Scott Hinchcliffe comes 3rd Place in the Sheffield Half Marathon!
#PinkArmy
We were delighted that one of our fabulous runners for the Jane Tomlinson’s Sheffield Half Marathon came third out of around 6,000 runners! What an incredible achievement!
Scott isn’t stopping there. He’s now running the Sheffield 10K in September and wants to encourage others to join him.
We did a Q&A with Scott to find out all about his running schedule:
How long have you been running, and how did you get into running in the first place?
“I started running again in 2015 after hanging up the rugby boots. It all started at my local Parkrun in Barnsley, a great way for anyone wanting to run or get exercise on a Saturday morning (no pressure and a relaxed environment). I joined Penistone Footpath Runners in 2016, then moved over to Barnsley AC in 2020”.
What has been your best result or greatest achievement in running?
“Breaking the Barnsley Parkrun record time after 96 attempts, the previous record was held in January 2011, the first ever Barnsley Parkrun”.
What do you do for a living, and how do you fit running into your schedule?
“I work for Barratt David Wilson Homes in Sheffield as an engineer, and I fit running around between work and home life. That’s the benefit of running. It can be done at any time. I train a few times a week, including speed work, tempo, and a long run. It helps if you can train in a group. It gives you that drive to improve”.
What does it mean to you to represent Paces when you step up on the start line?
“I feel extremely proud to be supporting Paces. People ask about the charity on the start line and give support for fundraising at the same time. Running is a community sport that involves giving back to others. I can’t wait for the next race to support the Paces charity again”.
