Jack’s Spectacular Blog
#PinkArmy
Hello my name is Jack Mitchell and I am 20 years old. I have got Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy which affects all my four limbs.
In January 2020, my mum sadly died. I live in Sheffield with my dad, sister Katy, her partner Scott and our new baby niece called Ruby Stace who I love to bits! I am a very proud uncle.
I have got a holiday home in Sewerby near Bridlington which I absolutely love.
I used to attend Paces School which is located in High Green in Sheffield and I left in July 2021.
I attend Barnsley College now and I really really really love it! My favourite subject is media on a Wednesday Morning and I have got some good friends called Damien and Gary. We have such good fun together.
I also attend Paces Adult Services at Smithy Wood in Sheffield for two days a week which I really enjoy. In Adult Services, I do a Conductive Education stretching programme with my very best friend Alex which motivates us to do tasks to help us throughout everyday life, eg. getting dressed, feeding ourselves, etc.
I used to attend Chancet Wood Children’s Centre and I really loved it because they supported me through turbulent times at home, and I am truly thankful because it was a very special place to my heart.
My favourite things to do are going on trips such as going to museums and going out spending time with my friends at the pub.
I have a team of carers who look after me and take me out places and they sleep over at my house which takes pressure off my dad and Katy so they can have a life. They take me out for trips and some food.
I used to go race running on a Wednesday night at the Institute of Sport in Sheffield and I really enjoyed it.
My interests for the future are doing some volunteering at Paces in the Fundraising Team as I love to help out when I can.
In the Covid lockdown, I started a woodworking business which I made candle holders, cactus etc and I have raised six thousand pounds and I am so proud of myself.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my first blog. I have very much enjoyed writing it and I can’t wait to write the next one.
